On Saturday I headed up with Hans Anderson and his roommates, Allison, Kelly and Dillon, to Luxmore Hut, the first hut on the Kepler Track above Lake Te Anau. Hans organised for a helicopter ride courtesy of Southern Lakes Helicopters and a hot tub which was long lined up to the hut with us.
Hans and myself skied to the summit of Mt Luxmore and skied a steep line off the eastern slopes and a shaded southern slope off the back of the summit. Snow conditions were variable with warm spring snow on the solar aspects and crusty conditions on the shaded. A handful of nicer powder turns were had at the highest elevations.
