Black Peak return to Treble Cone

A clear weather window with low to moderate wind means another day of getting out and about. Still feeling lacklustre after the big days up and down Mount Brewster meant that something closer and easier was on order.

Having once attempted Black Peak before, but being turned back just behind Treble Cone by sheer ice, it was a pleasure to be able to make it all the way to Black Peak summit. Surprisingly easy traverse out to Black Peak and back, nothing too steep, easy skinning and the peak itself is an easy boot-pack (especially with crampons).

The skiing and surface was usual spring conditions, the southern aspects didn’t really soften too much. Skinning in the morning with crampons, in the afternoon they were not required.

Left Saddle Basin chairlift top at 9:55am and made it back to the summit ridge at Treble Cone at 4:15pm. Enough time to make it down to the base area and catch last sweep.
